Introducing the new Self-Serve Kiosks for faster school meal ordering and checkout!
An exciting new development in school food service technology has arrived. Specifically designed for secondary school, sixth form and college canteens, we are excited to announce the launch of Self-Serve Kiosks, which offer students a new way to order and check out school meals using an interactive self-service screen.
The new Self-Serve Kiosks provide additional points of sale, increasing a school's total sales capacity and streamlining lunch services. The kiosks also offer users convenience, mirroring students' modern customer experience in popular out-of-school food and retail outlets.
The flexible solution can be used to place an order, which is then prepared in the school kitchen and collected from a designated point, or to purchase grab-and-go items, like a supermarket self-checkout. The kiosks’ Fusion integration and quality in-built hardware mean all payments are instantly deducted from the students’ cashless account, providing a seamless end-to-end customer experience.
How do students use the Self-Serve Kiosks?
1. Students easily access their cashless account by tapping their ID card or scanning their fingerprint at the Self-Serve Kiosk. 3. When ready, students simply tap to checkout, and the total is instantly deducted from their cashless account. Alternatively, integrated Chip & Pin lets users pay by card, Google Pay or Apple Pay. 4. The kiosk prints users’ receipts, and transactions are recorded in the cashless catering system, immediately sending order details to the kitchen. |
How the self-service model improves students’ dining experience
Our Research and Development team designed the interactive Self-Service Kiosks to improve the school dining hall environment by dispersing crowds and facilitating more concurrent transactions. This reduces queues, improving the overall school dining experience. Meanwhile, floor-standing, countertop and wall-mounting options are available, making kiosks well-suited for varying spaces, school preferences and accessibility requirements. Carl Lewis, Product Owner at CRB Cunninghams, said: “We developed the Self-Serve Kiosk to help schools and colleges give their students an easy way to access tasty, healthy meals. The kiosks are built into the Fusion Cashless system, so they work seamlessly alongside our traditional tills and meal pre-ordering app, offering a completely integrated cashless solution. It is exciting to see the transformation of school meal services as more sites embrace the benefits of this innovative modern technology.” |
Future-proof your school catering service
Self-service technology is rapidly expanding outside of the education sector. There are now more than 350,000 self-ordering kiosks in restaurants worldwide, and busy consumers are increasingly opting to use this convenient technology.
Young people are the most eager to adopt self-serve technology, with over 90% of 10 to 25-year-olds likely to visit a restaurant more often if kiosks are available. With these innovative Self-Serve Kiosks, we have introduced the self-service model into education settings to help schools keep up with the changing retail landscape, improve the student dining experience and boost the uptake of on-site school catering.
